What is it

Screen printing (silk screen) is one of the oldest and most widely used printing methods. A stencil (screen) is created for each color, and ink is pressed through the mesh onto the product. Each color requires a separate screen, so setup cost scales with color count. Best for large-volume runs with 1-4 solid colors and clear shapes.

What's the minimum order for screen printing?+

In our production line, the economical minimum is 300 units. Below that, setup cost dominates and unit price rises. For runs under 100, consider UV printing or heat transfer instead.

How many colors can screen printing handle?+

Technically unlimited, but each color needs its own screen. 1-4 colors is most economical. Beyond 5 colors, consider UV or digital printing.

Is screen printing wash-resistant?+

Very much so. On standard cotton, prints typically survive 100-200+ machine washes (30-40°C), outperforming heat transfer and digital printing.

Can I screen print on dark fabric?+

Yes. Dark fabrics need a white base layer under colors, adding one production step and 1-2 days lead time. Standard practice for dark T-shirts.

Screen printing vs heat transfer — which one?+

Screen printing embeds ink in fibers — thin feel, wash-resistant, cheap at volume. Heat transfer applies a printed film — full-color capable, cheap at small runs. Under 100 units → heat transfer. Over 300 units → screen printing.
